A Scanner, Darkly

Today marks a really significant event in a personal chronology that, it has become apparent over several years, does not accurately represent reality. One of my biggest personal downfalls as an adult, undoubtedly, is naivety when it comes to what reality actually encompasses, and that has led in the last few years to some pretty serious episodes of mental health instability.

This last month will become another, permanent reminder that what other people experience as normal can be a fuck of a long way from what happens to me. The ability to rationalise the disconnect is rapidly becoming a superpower, if I’m honest, and as a result the bad stuff is being steadfastly ignored in favour of truly believing what I am capable of and what that can now do going forward.
