Eclectic #2: More Fool You
Our second prompt is a little more abstract but hopefully accessible...
Starting on March 31st, 2026, NGNVNF will be introducing a rolling series of writing prompts suitable for all levels of writer across multiple formats. There will be a chance to share your work starting in May, 2026. Watch this space.

I was ecstatic on Tuesday to learn a regular reader of the Newsletter used this prompt, but they reminded me of an important caveat to any instructions, which I will reproduce here: what I find useful and helpful may make YOU uncomfortable or cause distress. We are all different. Therefore, you are reminded today to treat this prompt in a way that helps YOU in the most effective way.
I still forget this (I did on Tuesday) and it is the lesson I must keep learning going forward as a facilitator and a mentor. Every Day is a School Day. That's the inspiration for your flash, poem or piece of creation. We suggest you spend ten minutes before you begin with a Free Write. If you don't know what a Free Write is, and would like some context? Click here.
Again, I'm using a picture from Ghost's free library (the search term is 'school') and annotating on the fly. Do what works best for you.

I chose here to use repetition of the same four words across three stanzas (the/how/where/that). Using words in repetition allow you to build narrative containers, that point a way to placing a structure, and build an internal resonance in your work. This can sometimes allow you to rationalise more difficult subject matters on a page.
