Honesty #4
Next time, I listen to the youngest...

I should have written this yesterday, but on reflection the best thing I could have done for myself was to do nothing (relatively speaking). After this is written, I will gather some evidence together and send an email. After THAT? Fuck knows what will happen. I am not a mindreader nor a psychic, but I do know the signs this was a possible outcome have been apparent for some time.

In the last few years, I have become aware of how your own obsessions can become self-destructive. The realisation of this has led, for me at least, to a way in which I am constantly attempting to reinvent myself. It also means learning the hard lessons about why doing something without laying down a clear and definable set of terms and conditions is literally the most dangerous thing you can ever do.

I can happily state I will not be that person EVER again.

This week I’ve also committed to finishing the video poetry project for Forest Management next year, which I suspect will involve a measure of crowdfunding. We will not worry too much about the details right now, as I have the launches and other stuff to deal with first. Needless to say that enough lessons have been learnt for me to do this very much under my own auspice, but with a LOT of collaboration.

What collaboration does, if it happens properly, is the opportunity to look past the vision you have to the possibilities that could be explored if you’re willing to listen to others. There has to be care, and if you take certain ideas on board that clearly were not yours, the appropriate credit must be given. Everything needs to be clearly defined and set out. This is why a plan is absolutely vital.

This is why copious organisation beforehand becomes vitally important.

Every failure should be a lesson learnt: my problem, and it is a big one, is simply not doing this well enough. So, today is when that changes. We will deal with the consequences as and when they take place.

Mostly, we will remain moving forwards.
