News Post / July 27th

Unexpectedly (for me) a large amount of stuff will be happening over the Summer. To keep my brain 'in the game' I need to anchor those events to some visual cues. Therefore, THIS graphic (./points above) will (alongside a series of Pamphlet! posts) document everything happening with Forest Management, the release date of which is now LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AWAY!1!1!!!11!!1

Friday was significant not simply for wrestling my pamphlet into it's final form: Acropolis Journal have nominated a poem of mine for the Best of the Net Award. I also have a gig in the diary for early October (which facilitates filling in my diary for the whole of August and September). Add a fucktonne of emailing to do today as a result of Stanza on Saturday, and we are WORKING.

However, the MOST significant of all the pamphlet-related tomfoolery is the cover, which a few friends have already seen, and which should be finally signed off by the end of this week. Once my publisher is ready to roll, we'll have more details on how exactly the purchasing of such things is going to work, including (as a first for me) a Pre-Order option \o/.

There'll be some other bits and bobs on the table too for purchase...

Then there is PERFORMANCE: I have FOUR gigs already penned into the diary (in Real Life and on the Internets) with the actual Launch events planned for both spaces too. This is the bit of my equation which needs the most work and I'd planned this week as when that would happen. There will be video, and hopefully I can formally restart my project for FM starting in September.

I had forgotten the innate excitement that accompanies something important being published. A LOT of lessons have been learnt from the last time this happened too, mostly around managing expectations and realising that you need to keep rolling and hustling and keeping the process of being a 'full-time' writer going forward. Your publication date is just another day for everyone else.

It's what happens AFTER that point that then defines the next chapter.

Suffice it to say, I will need to programme in some downtime in the next few weeks. That's why I spent a decent portion of Sunday making a list of what needs doing, what I can ignore for a while and what can be postponed until September.
